Colloquy Modern Orthodox Thinkers: From the Philokalia to the present

On 4 September 2015, the presentation of the book Modern Orthodox Thinkers: From the Philokalia to the present by Very Revd. Prof. Andrew Louth was be the occasion for a colloquy. Fr. Andrew, who taught patristics in Oxford and Durham, was for four years visiting professor at VU University Amsterdam. The book contains the lectures Fr. Andrew gave each month during the course of two years. The result is a unique overview of the richness and variety of Orthodox thinking since the publication in 1782 of the anthology of writings by (mainly) Greek spiritual masters called the Philokalia.
 
Besides Fr. Andrew himself the main speakers were Metropolitan Kallistos Ware, who taught for 35 years Orthodox theology at Oxford and who is the subject of of the final chapter of the book, and Very Revd. Dr. John Behr, Dean of St. Vladimirís Orthodox Theological Seminary in New York and Professor of Patristics. The colloquy was chaired by Revd. Dr. Michael Bakker, director of ACEOT.
